James Swick, PhD

James Swick, PhD is Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at LyChron, LLC. LyChron is a privately held in vivo studies laboratory located in Mountain View, CA. Open since September 2000, the lab has developed relationships with more than 200 medical device companies and currently has 250 active protocols. The company’s focus is to assist medical device manufacturers in the development of cutting edge technologies that will enhance the science of medicine. Dr. Swick has about 30 years experience as a preclinical and clinical investigator in academia and industry. He has been on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Medical Branch, UCSF, the University of Arizona Medical School, and Stanford University School of Medicine in the departments of neurosurgery, physiology, ophthalmology, and biomedical engineering. He has also consulted for companies, which are considered pioneers in the medical device industry. Prior to starting LyChron, Dr. Swick was Senior Clinical Scientist at Berkeley Antibody Company in their in vivo studies division. He also has authored and co-authored many papers, which have appeared in various peer review journals.
Dr. Swick is also a faculty member of Stanford’s Biodesign and Innovations fellowship program. He also lectures in the Bio-X course at Stanford as well.
