Our workshop leader, Liz Wool, is Associate Director, Global Clinical Education and Training, at Gilead, Foster City, California. In her current position, Liz is responsible for SOP development, administration and employee training for GCP related departments.
Liz received her Bachelors of Science Degree, with a major in Nursing, from The College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, Maryland. Liz obtained her CRA certification with ACRP in the year 2000.
Liz possesses 24 years experience in health care organizations. Liz began her career as a Registered Nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland where she held positions in floor nursing, the Coronary Care Unit and as a Research Nurse for the Department of Cardiology. After this nursing career, Liz utilized her nursing background in utilization management and quality assurance for hospitals and insurance carriers. She also supervised the Emergency Room Billing Department at George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
For the past 11 years, Liz has been in the clinical research arena in the areas of clinical trial operations and management, SOP development and administration, and clinical training. Lizs breadth of experience encompasses positions held in a government agency, a Contract Research Organization, as well as start-up biotechnology, biopharmaceutical and drug companies. She has developed SOPs for these various organizations which have addressed the needs of companies developing biologics, vaccines and drugs.
She presented a workshop entitled SOP Administration: Systems, Processes and Documentationat IIR USAs 3rd Annual Clinical Research SOPs Conference,July, 2002. She is scheduled to present at a this years annual DIA meeting in San Antonio, TX, Getting the Most out of your SOPs, whereby Liz will discuss SOP Training Implementation |
